To enable this, a Web site must make an RSS feed, or channel, available, just like any other file or resource on the server.
Once a feed is available, you can access this feed to read the content it contains.
A feed contains a list of links - each link called an 'item'.
Each item can have any amount of information associated with it.
The most basic information (or metatdata) supported by RSS includes simply - a title for the link and a description of it.

So an RSS feed is just a text file with a structure similar to XML and is used to distribute content through a server. Each RSS feed has a channel - akin to a television network channel.
